London Underground AKA “The Tube”
Due to my parent’s self-proclaimed ban on Ubers and taxis, I’ve grown accustomed to familiarizing myself with the public transit systems of the places we visit. The tube was a positively delightful way to wander about London, with frequent stops and escalator etiquette, it definitely makes my list of favorite subway systems.
Portobello Market

While I initially wanted to visit Notting Hill to feed my obsession with the classic 1999 film, I ultimately fell in deep love with the market winding throughout. Filled to the brim with all sorts of vintage watches, old film cameras, and beautiful leather jackets, this market was definitely a test of my self-control over my wallet. Though I managed to slink by with only a little bit of damage, I would definitely return to get another glimpse at the variety of booths and stalls, as well as make second visits to the many vintage clothing stores and boutiques scattered about.
English Breakfast Tea

I drink my fair share of the black tea while in the States, but there was a definite charm in consuming the beverage in its homeland. In particular, I had my most prized cupful during afternoon tea at Candella Tea Room – a charming, Alice-in-Wonderland-esque tea room in Kensington that served up delicious treats and an amazing atmosphere. With jetlag on my tail, I drank the stuff left and right – hotel room and restaurant.
Carbonnade a la Flamande
During our three day stint in Brussels, Belgium, I was almost certain that my favorite dish would be the iconic Belgian waffles, but this hearty beef stew took the crown. As someone who rarely eats red meat, this dish is one that I would make an exception for every time – sweet yet savory sauce, tender meat and some of the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had the privilege of consuming. My family and I had ours at Fin de Siècle, a cozy restaurant with authentic Belgian meals, and heavily considered returning the next night.
European Cafes

Though there’s a general goal whilst on vacation to visit as many sightseeing spots as possible, this objective proves rather hard on one’s feet. So, whenever me and my family began to feel the effects of our averaged 20,000 steps per day, a quick stop at a random cafe was a delightful way to rejuvenate. A particularly memorable experience was at a small tavern/cafe in Brussels, where we were serenaded by an impromptu guitar and vocal performance while soaking in the sunlight of the City Center.
