Everybody has read John Green’s “The Fault in Our Stars,” but not many people have read his other, less popular books. Few people are even aware that he has written anything other than the heart-wrenching love story of Hazel and Augustus. But although his other books are lesser known, they are equally well-written and captivating. Paper Towns is a perfect example.

Paper Towns is a coming-of-age novel. It is centered around a group of high schoolers in Orlando, Fla. Margo Roth Spiegelman is the most fascinating girl in the world. She is known for her ridiculous adventures and unbelievable stories. Quentin Jacobsen is her geeky next door neighbor; hopelessly in love with her. In one whirlwind night, Margo takes Quentin around their neighborhood, taking revenge on all her enemies, breaking into buildings and sneaking into Sea World. Everything seems perfect until the next day when she disappears. The rest of Quentin’s senior year is spent following the clues she has left for him. She leads him across the country to an unpredictable outcome that will shock readers.

The book is very relatable. Readers will see characteristics of themselves in the main characters. Quinton is friendly, hopeful and dedicated. He genuinely cares about the people in his life. He is a good kid with a big heart. Margo is spontaneous, creative and crazy. She runs her life the way she wants to. She is the life of the party. Although they are opposites, their personalities make for likable characters and a very enjoyable book.

The beginning and the end of the book are very captivating. Both sections will keep you flipping the pages. I personally, finished the book in just two days. But, the middle of the book can be a little slow. Quentin’s endeavor to find Margo can be quite redundant. Reading through his entire search can seem tiresome at points. I promise though, that if you push through the boring parts you will once find yourself among the pages of a page-turning novel.

One of the best parts about the book is that it is currently in production to be a movie. Fox 2000 pictures is producing it with supermodel, Cara Develingne as Margo and TFIOS star, Nat Woolff as Quentin. The movie should be coming out June 19, 2015.
