Teacher Spotlight: Mrs.Hammons

An interview with the Newspaper, Yearbook, and Photo Journalism teacher, Mrs.Hammons.
1. Please write a little bit about your life outside of school.
My husband, Chris, and I live in South Austin with our dog, Paisley. We like to go out to eat, try new places, hang out with friends, and go on day trips. Chris is from Florida so we love to get back to the beach as often as possible.
2. What made you want to teach Newspaper, Yearbook, and Photo Journalism?
I was involved in yearbook and newspaper in both high school and college and always really enjoyed it. I have a journalism degree, but teaching journalism is a lot more fun!
3. What is your favorite part about being a teacher at Vandegrift?
My students!
4. What should students expect for the year? What is your classroom environment like?
I think my classroom is a comfortable place for my students, I hope they feel welcome in my classroom.
5. What is one fun fact about yourself?
I’ve never broken any bones or had stitches (knock on wood).
