FFA Competitions
February 27, 2014
The FFA team has been working on a number of different events throughout the year and has also competed in multiple competitions to show off their prize winning skills in order to win a title in a competition so that they can move on to more difficult competitions with more people.
“It’s been great competing with different schools. I’ve made a bunch of new friends and have gotten the chance to know my teammates more,” FFA member Hannah Olsen said.
FFA is a leadership development program for students who take part in agricultural science and technology. FFA is intended to be related to the different classroom and lab studies.
“Being in FFA is really fun because it’s like being in a huge family and if you ever need help, someone always has your back. It has been a fun experience,” FFA member Trevor Gotcher said.
All of the different events taking place in March are career development competitions. The career development competitions are held all throughout Texas and help develop critical thinking and communication. Members also learn how to perform well in a competitive job market. Competitors prepare for the competitions through team practice and events. These events allow competitors the opportunity to use classroom information in real world situations.
“I’m excited for the different spring competitions because we’ve all worked really hard and I’m excited to see how it will pay off,” Olsen said.
