What made you want to teach AP Government?
The government class gives me the opportunity to encourage students to think and participate. The layout of the class is much different and much more beneficial than many previous level history classes in the curriculum. I love teaching the students not what to think, but instead to think for themselves.
What is your favorite part about being a teacher at Vandegrift?
The students make my job interesting every year. Every single class I’ve ever taught has something unique to offer and it makes my job so much better. Vandegrift has a much different vibe to it than other high schools I’ve taught at and I this is by far my favorite.
What is your classroom environment like?
I strive to give my students an outlet for expression in my classroom. I try to make an environment where everyone feels comfortable and willing to express their opinions with both like-minded individuals as well as those who think differently. I’d rather let my students want to learn more on their own accord than just be forced to learn about curriculum that they have no interest in.
What do you like to do outside of school?
I absolutely love spending time with my kids and my wife and being outdoors.
