The Academic UIL Regional meet last Saturday, April 21 resulted in top places and even State qualifiers.
The first place, State qualifying Current Issues team includes Bret Reinking, who placed second individually, Scott Pollock third, Nicholas Smith 16th and Salman Siddiqi 18th. Zach Moring placed second in Ready Writing, Taylor Watson third in Feature Writing and Hadley Sorsby-Jones third in Literary Criticism. All advanced to State individually.
State alternates include Ashley Shoemake, who placed sixth in Headline Writing, Danielle Docherty, fifth in News Writing, and Colleen McCool fifth in Poetry Interpretation.
David Wan placed18th in Mathematics, Conor Mitchell ninth in Calculator Applications and Brian Talbot 20th in Social Studies. The Computer Science team placed third and the Science team sixth.
