What on-campus club are you primarily involved with?
FFA, which stands for Future Farmers of America. This club is based off of leadership. The students go to many competitions and to leadership development, and public speaking workshops. Not everything in this club revolves around animals, but there is wildlife judging.
What position do you hold in this club?
I am a reporter, meaning I take pictures of events, update the FFA website, inform the other members what is happening in FFA at that moment, and whenever we get interviewed for a newspaper or something, I am the one the reporter talks to.
Why are you in this particular club?
FFA opens up many opportunities like scholarships that are worth up to $16,000. And, you can earn them more than once.
Why are you interested in this particular activity?
There is a lot of outside work and activities we get to do, and trips that we get to go on. We went on one trip to Lubbock and there were 10,000 people there. There was a dance and a band which was really fun. I also like FFA because you get to hang out with so many people that you wouldn’t normally hang out with.
How long have you been in this club?
This is my second year in FFA, since it started my junior year.
What are you looking forward to this year?
I’m really hoping we make it to state this year, since we only made it to district last year.
Does this club relate to what you want to do in the future?
Yes, because it gives me leadership skills and public speaking skills, and a lot of other qualities.
How does this club impact your other school events/activities?
FFA does take a lot of time, but I’m able to do a lot. It’s definitely worth it.
How will this club impact your college resume?
FFA looks really good on your scholarships, especially if you’re an officer.
What is a fun fact about you?
I recently found out that I know every line from Jaws, which is my favorite movie. I can also act out every scene with all of the characters.
