After ending their regular season, the varsity girls’ basketball team found themselves in a three-way tie for fourth place in the district. As a result, they played two games last weekend, in hopes of securing the final playoff spot.
On Friday night, the girls defeated Lake Travis 61-51, but their journey ended Saturday when they lost to Dripping Springs 26-28.
“We play best in tournaments, so I figured having another game so soon would be like a tournament,” team Captain Katy Gallien, junior, said. “I thought we could handle it, but I guess we were too tired. We did not come out focused.”
The girls wrapped up their regular season with a 17-18 record, finishing 5th in the district.
“Now that the season is over, I feel proud of the girls and what they accomplished but just wish they could have experienced making the playoffs,” coach Jody Hormann said.
