On September 25, Vandegrift High School students and families are invited to attend the school dedication ceremony in honor of 1st Lt. Matthew Vandegrift.
“We expect about 800 people to attend,” Mr. Little, Vandegrift principal, said. The Vandegrift family will also be present. Matthew’s father will deliver a speech to the crowd, along with Captain Harry Boyd. The ceremony will also feature the Ross A&M Volunteer Color Guard, which is the official honor guard for the governor of Texas. The ceremony is a chance for families to view the school better and learn about the story behind it.
“The dedication will end with general tours of the Vandegrift campus,” Mr. Little said. “We’re hoping everyone chooses to attend.”
