After years of anticipation and preparation, the marching band embarked on an unforgettable spring-break trip to Hawaii. This trip isn’t just about performing, it’s an opportunity for students to unwind, explore, and celebrate the hard work they’ve put in during the school year. From historic landmarks to breathtaking sights, the itinerary is packed with unforgettable experiences.
“[I’m excited for] the beach,” senior Aidan Borlet said. “There’s a lot of good food places: sit down restaurants and fast food places.”
One of the trip’s highlights was a special performance on the USS Missouri, a battleship with deep historical significance in relation to the end of World War II. Beyond the performance, the trip included a volcano trail hike, offering students a chance to experience the beauty of Hawaii. Borlet elaborated on his excitement about the activity list before the trip began.
“We’re performing on the USS Missouri, [and] we’re doing a volcano trail hike,” Borlet said. “It’s nice that we get a lot of free time because when we went to New York it was an activity every day and I was so tired.”
Unlike previous band trips that primarily focused on the performance aspect, this trip was designed with free time and relaxation in mind.
“Most of our trips are performance trips, where our job is to do the performance and then leave,” Borlet said. “For [this trip] the performance is not the point of the trip. [This trip] is mostly about taking a break after a long year and relaxing.”
Beyond the scheduled activities, Borlet has some personal goals for the trip as well. He hopes to take “fire pictures” and create “good memories” with his fellow bandmates.
“Just in general Hawaii is going to be a fun time, we’ve been preparing and waiting for this and it’s finally here,” Borlet said.
With a perfect blend of music, adventure and relaxation, the band’s spring-break trip to Hawaii is set to be a reward for their effort and dedication throughout the school year. Students are eager to soak up the sun, enjoy local cuisine and make lasting memories.
