Personalized Instruction Time (PIT) is an intervention and tutorial block during the school day that serves many purposes on campus. PIT features a plethora of club meetings, honor societies, intervention times, and an opportunity for students to get help from teachers during the school day. Starting this school year, PIT is now mandatory and attendance is reported in the Home Access Center, unlike previous years. Additionally, PIT is now directly after first period – a change from previous post-second period PITs.
The decision made by over 20 members of the school community to move the PIT time is in part to stop a mass exodus of students leaving campus for lunch. Administration hopes to see a boost in PIT attendance this school year after the change.

Moving the pit from before lunch to after the first period is unfair and annoying because it disrupts students’ routines and creates an imbalance in their daily schedule. Many students use that time to relax, catch up on work, or prepare for the rest of the day, and having it before lunch allows for a natural break in the day. Shifting it to after the first period forces students to work through the earlier parts of their schedule without a needed pause, which can increase stress and decrease productivity. This change also limits the flexibility students had in managing their workload, making it harder for them to focus during class or enjoy their lunch break.
