Cross country girls place first at regionals

The varsity girl’s cross country team is advancing to the State meet after coming in first at regionals on Saturday.

“All the girls did awesome,” Captain Nikki Keys said. “We were all so excited to place so well.”

The other cross country teams finished for the season after a strong finish at District two weeks ago. The JV girls placed second at district and freshman girls placed first. Additionally, varsity boy placed fifth, JV boys placed third and freshman boys placed third.

“The guys did really well at District. It was definitely one of our better races, and a great way to finish off the season,” senior Aaron Daniels said. “The energy was really high all day and it showed in our performance.”

The girls team is continuing to practice before school every morning in preparation in preparation for Saturday’s race. “Everyone should come out and watch us run,” Freshman Grace Conroy said. “It’s such an honor to have made it this far and we would love all the support we can get.”

The state meet will take place at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock at 10 a.m..
