Last weekend, the band and Vision Dance Company competed in the Bands of America Austin Regional competition. This year, the band competed in the Class AAA for the first time, being classed as AA for all previous years. The competition was held at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex in Round Rock. As a group, the band was awarded 1st place in Class AAA and won both Music and General Effect captions.
“The band is off to a great start this season,” Sam Yarbrough, senior, said. “Being on drumline, I know the importance of playing closely as a group.”
The band also managed to place 4th overall in the competition, placing just under two points below the 1st place overall champions, Bowie High School. With a score of 82.15, band and Vision placed higher than any other school in LISD.
“Next year, we’ll definitely take the number one spot,” Kyle Richardson, drumline member, said. “We get better and better with each performance.”
