The Vision Dance Company’s annual spring show, “Visionary”, will take place on March 31st and April 1st.

“I’m really excited for the dress rehearsal where we do the show in full for the first time,” junior Aine Connors said. “That’s when it really comes together and feels real. It’s satisfying to see all your hard work pay off.”

The show features both full company pieces and smaller ensembles, ranging in various dance styles.

“I am in jazz funk, jazz ensemble, the junior/senior modern, and the full company jazz,” junior Sarah McKelvy said. “The jazz funk is super fun because it’s so high energy, and I also really love the full company jazz because of the upbeat music and high level technique.”

They began learning pieces as soon as they returned from winter break, and will continue to practice their pieces all the way until the show.

“We had a 5 hour long jazz funk rehearsal, which was very daunting at first,” Connors said. “But once we got rolling it wasn’t so bad. I was sore for days afterwards, but I love long rehearsals.”

It will take place in the PAC, and everyone is invited to purchase tickets and attend.

“I’m nervous about the choreography in the modern piece,” McKelvy said. “It’s very fast paced and requires a lot of focus to perform everything the right and on time.”

The Vision Dance Company still has a lot of practicing and rehearsals to go, but will soon have an amazing show put together.

“This week, I’ve had rehearsal every day after school,” Connors said. “Once schedules get settled and there’s a routine, rehearsals will be around three times a week and then every B day during class.”

After Visionary, they will go on and perform a few select pieces in “Vanguard”, the Legacies Spring Show.

“In the end, the show is going to look really cool because of all the time, effort and dedication put into each individual dance,” McKelvy said. “It’s really going to show off the talent Vision has in a good entertaining way for both the audience and performers.”
