NBA Playoffs- Predicting the NBA Finals
May 15, 2018
With the conference championships underway and the finals kicking off on May 31, it’s not too late to speculate about what two teams will advance to the NBA Finals. The Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics will look to win their series in order to advance to the finals. For the Rockets, it’s about winning the first NBA championship for the first time in franchise history. For the Warriors, who won in 2017, it’s about using their championship experience to win their sixth championship and win it in back-to-back years (2017 and 2018). For the Cavaliers, it’s about winning their second championship and bringing it home to Cleveland. For the Celtics, it’s about winning their 18th championship. Here’s a look at my prediction for what two teams will advance to the NBA Finals and their series record.
West: Golden State Warriors
Series Record: 4-3
Analysis: Although the Warriors are the number two seed, they will be the team from the Western Conference to advance to the NBA Finals. In Game one, the Warriors came back from behind and defeated the Rockets 119-106 after the Rockets started the game strong and blew their lead during the second half. Toward the end of the game, it seemed the Rockets gave up and allowed the Warriors to continue to score. If the Rockets continue to play like how they did in Game one, the Warriors will advance to the finals. The Warriors will also use their championship experience to their advantage in order to reach the finals. The Rockets shouldn’t be counted out though as they are the number one seed and can play well as a team.
East: Boston Celtics
Series Record: 4-3
Analysis: This series will be a tight one as both teams have players that can make big plays (Lebron James with the Cavaliers and Kyrie Irving with the Celtics). In the end, the Celtics will be the team to advance to the NBA Finals. The Celtics defeated the Cavaliers in Game 1 108-83 and held Lebron to 15 points. If the Celtics continue to hold Lebron to as few points as possible, they should win the series. If the Cavaliers want to go back to the NBA Finals, they need to step up their game and change things up in order to advance.
NBA Finals Prediction: Golden State Warriors vs Boston Celtics
Both the Western and the Eastern conference championships should be good ones as all four teams have all-stars that have been carrying the team throughout the season. We’ll have to wait and see what two teams will advance to the NBA Finals.
