This year the football team was awarded the Tex Kassen Sportsmanship Award. They were given the award out of 50 schools in the greater Austin area. In order to receive such an award the official’s chapter of Austin vote on a school that best displays good sportsmanship throughout the season. This is the first time Vandegrift has been given such an award.

“I’m so proud of our young men and the character they display on and off the field. This award is a credit to that,” head coach Drew Sanders said.
