Fellowship of Christian Athletes will sponsor the first annual faculty versus students basketball game tomorrow.
“I’ve never known a school that didn’t have one and I thought ‘why hasn’t it existed yet?’ so we were going to make it happen,” FCA sponsor Coach McClain said.
Tickets are $5 and will be sold in the cafeteria starting today. Half of the money raised will be given to Relay for Life and the other half will benefit FCA.
“Once a month, on Thursdays, we do a game night so the money is for pizza or if we want to hire a speaker,” FCA co-captain, Emily Rue, said.
When students buy their tickets, they will receive a wristband that will get them out of class at the end of the day on Friday to attend the game. If a student doesn’t purchase a ticket they will stay in their eighth period class for study hall.
“Students should come because it’s good to see the competition and it’s fun to bring the whole school together,” FCA co-captain, Jack Hanna, said.
The game will be in the gym and the boys and the girls basketball teams will play against the coaching staff.
“I can’t wait to destroy the teachers in the basketball game. Coach Irwin has been talking trash all week and we are ready to take it to him,” basketball player Kelsee Pitman said.
Both sides are preparing for the game and are confident that they will win.
“The losers are going to be the teachers. I hope they don’t take it too hard,” FCA captain Jordan Sonnier said.
