This year the Vandegrift boys’ varsity soccer team is on fire. The team is already seven games into the season and has a 5-2 record. The Vipers began preseason ranked #5 in Central Texas of 4A and 5A combined in the Austin Statesman’s paper and #4 in 4A-Region IV for TASCO association.
So far they have defeated 5A Hendrickson 2-0, Cedar Creek 4-1, Pflugerville 5-1, Westlake 5-2 and Manor 3-0. The team has lost to Killeen Ellison and El Paso Burgess, both games 0-1.
The Vipers are set to face off tonight against Pflugerville before district starts on Feb. 8 against Marble Falls.
“With only four total seniors on the squad, we are super young after graduating nine players last year,” head coach Chad Aldrich said. At the same time, the men have responded to all of my demands I have put on them since August to prepare for this year and have proven themselves early on in season defeating top 4A and 5A teams in Central Texas. We will be ready to battle it out in district play starting with Marble Falls.”
