The Vandegrift girls’ soccer team has been preparing for their upcoming season since school started after Thanksgiving break. Tonight the girls are traveling to Dripping Spring to play a preseason game against the Lady Tigers.
The team has been practicing for quite some time now and has become closer and stronger as a team.
“We have an incredible work ethic and we are a lot closer as a team this year,” junior Savannah Cavanaugh said.
The girls’ soccer program has come a long way since the opening of the school in ’09. Last season the team had an undefeated district 4A title.
“It’s difficult to compare how far we’ve come as a team on the field, but off the field or as teammates I feel the girls are much closer and much more dedicated to one another,” Coach Hardy said.
The team is currently preparing for districts play in weeks to come. The first district game is set for Feb. 8 when the team will travel to Marble Falls.
They have been practicing to get ready to play their rival team, Cedar Park.
“I’m most excited about district play. I can’t wait to play teams and do really well this season,” Cavanaugh said.
