Behind all of the wins, losses, sweat, and tears, the Vandegrift varsity boys’ basketball team is having an enjoyable time bonding with each other.
“Before the games, I like to beat box and our point guard, Zach Hartman, will rap to it. It usually gets us psyched for the game,” senior Mitch McShane said.
The team also has traditions to help
themselves strive throughout the season.
“Before and after our games we touch our team signs in the locker room, which say ‘it is either us or them, you decide,’” junior Hunter Gross said.
Hartman begins the traditions and helps with the get-togethers. He motivates the team by showing optimistic attitude through the way he plays.
“Hartman is our number one leader because he is the point guard on the team and he runs the show and translates it off the court,” Gross said.
The highlight of the season for the boys was when they beat the Dripping Springs Tigers at their court after making a comeback in the second half and winning by seven points.
The boys are at home tonight against the Marble Falls Mustangs.
