The cross country team district meet October 29th begins at 8 A.M. at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock.
Running against Vista Ridge, Cedar Park, Rouse, Dripping Springs and Boerne, the competition is tough. District 25-4A is ranked the best district in state for cross country.
“We have been working hard all summer and season to get ready for the meet. We practice about 16 hours a week on average. The competition is going to be tough, but we have the talent to do well,” junior JR Hardy said.
This season, the cross country team has been very successful. Placing in the top 10 in every meet of the season, the Vipers have high expectations for themselves and their team.
“Our coach expects us to get out of districts and go to the regional meet. I think we can achieve that but it will be difficult with the top four people in the state in our region,” junior Topher Jensen said.
To advance to the regional meet, the Viper runners must place in the top three as a team or individually in the top ten.
“As district champions last year, we hope to up hold the legacy and make the name of Vandegrift remembered. Our team has a big goal of becoming ‘known runners,’” junior Cody Cox said.
