The 82nd Golden Globes was presented on Jan. 5, and let’s be honest, we’re really only here for the fashion (and Nikki Glaser’s hosting). The bedazzled red walkway kicked off the exclusive event and we can’t stop talking about the looks. Here are the Top 5 Best/Worst Golden Globes Outfits, at least in my opinion.
Top 5 Worst:
5. Jeremy Strong in Loro Piana
Maybe it’s the overwhelming amount of seafoam green, the high white turtleneck, or the glasses/hat combo, but something about this look doesn’t scream ‘strong. I guess my personal preference of a bucket hat or the orange tinted matching glasses doesn’t match Jeremy’s, but it doesn’t take the cake for me. I was really looking forward to the new suits being brought into fashion, and although I loved some with colors other than black, this one didn’t hit. I give it a solid 4/10.
4. Naomi Watts in Schiaparelli
I’m going to be completely transparent, I didn’t see the bottom of the dress when I first saw her look. I actually love the strapless black gown, but the pale pink petals at the bottom were not it for me. Needless to say, she looks beautiful as always, but I may have to take a pair of scissors to the bottom of the outfit. 5/10.
3. Cynthia Erivo in Louis Vuitton
I love her makeup in this look, but the dress was really not my taste. I am a big fan of the V neckline, and I think that Cynthia can pull off anything, but the rectangular shape made by the dress was a little untasteful for me. I’m also not the biggest fan of florals on her dress, but I love the jewelry and the nails are definitely funky. 5/10.
2. Ali Wong in Balenciaga
This dress was definitely something. I love Ali’s whole aesthetic, but this outfit was an outlier. I am not a fan of the feather/wave action going on with the bottom half of the dress, and even more of a skeptic for the massive red bow in the middle which doesn’t provide any definition. I think the thought of matching the glasses and the gloves was cute, but I’m not crazy about it. 3/10.
1. Melissa Mccarthy in Christian Siriano
It’s the pants for me. I’m not even that mad at the cape (actually, maybe I am), but the vibrant pink look threw me off guard. I’m not huge on insane ruffles, and Melissa always carries herself with charisma, but I personally felt that the outfit was a bit too much. I think I was more concerned about her tripping over the look than actually paying attention to the carpet. 3/10.
Honorable Mention: Glen Powell in Giorgio Armani
I really did not want to put Glen here, but he’s going to get my honorable mention for this section. I actually didn’t mind his outfit, but I do know that he could do so much better. I think it’s the leather belt that made me dislike this look, but I will say that contrary to many, I am a fan of sunglasses. I’ll keep the Twisters actor’s review short with a 6/10.
Top 5 Best:
Honorable Mention: Pamela Anderson in Oscar de la Renta
I’ll start with my honorable mention for the best category first to keep the suspense building (although I suppose you could have just scrolled to the bottom to see number 1). I love everything about Pamela’s outfit. The all black, ruched bodice is ravishing and I am obsessed with her chic style. The gloves were a perfect add on, and the no-makeup look is such a glowing choice. The look was so simplistic yet so perfect, and she looks like an angel. 7/10.
5. Sheryl Lee Ralph in St. John
Sheryl never misses, and this outfit was not an exception. I am obsessed with the glamorous red color and off-the-shoulder neckline. The hair is absolutely flawless and I love the matching heels. I can see people wanting a necklace with this look, but with how stunning the neckline is, I personally prefer a little chain or nothing at all. That being said, I would have loved a bigger and bolder earring piece, but nonetheless, Sheryl looks gorgeous as per-usual. 7.5/10.
4. Andrew Garfield in Jaeger-LeCoultre
Despite his silly glambot, I’m a huge fan of the olive green suit. I love the collar and the neckline of the undershirt. The watch is stunning, and the whole set with the green tinted sunglasses really pulled the whole look together. I was really excited to see more suits of different colors and Andrew did not disappoint. The shoes are a plus one, and controversially enough, I like the look with the beard. 8/10.
3. Zoe Saldana in Saint Laurent
A sequined gown was what this event needed and Zoe delivered. The chocolate-brown dress is absolutely gorgeous and pairing it with an elegant cape gave the look so much dimension. I’m obsessed with the necklace, it was paired so perfectly with the sweetheart neckline and the slick-back bun was the ideal hairstyle to show off the dress. I wasn’t expecting anything less from Zoe. 8.5/10.
2. Anna Sawai in Dior
Anna Sawai can really do no wrong. The minimalist white peplum is stunning on her, and the choice of a ‘less is more’ look is so elegant. I love how simple her makeup was, and the hair was the perfect choice for the classic look. I’m a really big fan of Anna’s color coordination with almost all of her red carpet looks, and I think white was the flawless look for the Golden Globes. A stunning 9/10 for Anna.
1. Zendaya in Louis Vuitton
This would not be a best dressed list without Zendaya. The old-Hollywood style is absolutely stunning on her and I’m obsessed with the hair. To top it off, her stylist Roach Law never goes wrong with her jewelry – the perfect silver and emerald touches made this entire look. Not to mention, debuting her possible engagement on a red carpet is a power move and I wouldn’t expect anything less from her. 10/10.
