To celebrate Christmas this year, FCCLA filled stockings for 33 children for the Texas Baptist Children’s home in Round Rock. Each club member had a different sponsor child to fill a stocking for.

The club served the organization two years ago by watching the children while the parents’ went out to get their gifts, which gave them the idea to work with the children again for this season’s community service project.

“It was such a fun way to serve our community, while still getting the whole club involved for the season,” club president Emily Hart said.

Club members brought all kinds of things for the children to put in their stockings, such as toys, gum, gift cards, headphones, and different necessities for their personal needs.

“Everyone put so much thought into what they bought for their sponsor child’s stocking,” Hart said. “It warmed my heart to see all of the members helping to put all of the stockings together.”

It was a new experience for many of the club members, which has given FCCLA a place to serve for the holidays in the future.

“It was such a great experience to fill our stockings,” club member Kara Dubose said. “I hope that we can continue to work on service projects like this again.”
